Bus stop too far

What is the average distance between two bus stops? Some housing areas are too far from the bus stop. 
Ravindran always travel to work by bus. He also takes bus whenever go out during weekend. Even though his house is quite near to the main road, he has to walk about 200m to the nearest bus stop. It sure will be tiring for him and also other bus users. Moreover, he has walking difficulty. Besides, the connectivity from his house to the bus stop is also really inaccessible. There is no way for most disabled especially wheelchair user to go to the bus stop. Why the bus stops are so far away???
